Thank you all so much for these lovely and supportive comments...I appreciate each and every one!
This pond (and willow) is a favorite spot, and it's such a nice feeling to be able to share it.
Magyar, Dana-Marie and Vasile...I enjoyed your haiku!

Good one.
icy pond
the weight of a willow's
shadow
Lary,
Your innovative use of 'weight' shows the shadow's lack of and in doing so highlights the fragility of the ice.
If we view your willow as a metaphor for ourselves or life in general, then 'shadow' and 'icy' really work overtime.
Well done.
And if you wanted to cLarify:
the weight
of a willow's shadow
icy pond
;P
i like your haiku very much, Lary!
Lovely, and likewise Magyar's response
Laryalee-
This poem is moving, so solemn and sad. I love the wintry, grayscale imagery. Wonderful! Thank you.
Excellent.
Wonderful imagery!
I often wonder about haiku as a real art form of expression. As hard as I try to dismisses it I am unable and brought back by such as this.
Larylee your reverie in this haiku is very uplifting. All shades of grey are infused with a speculative emotional color. Lovely.
Hi Lary
It was a delight to read this. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful.
I loved it -- such a resonant image.
An incredibly beautiful and inspiring poem! Thank you very much, Laryalee.

I concur with everyone else! ;-)
